Privacy Policy

Noura ("Noura," "we," "us," or "our") is a learning platform where you teach an AI student and it learns back. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Noura, you agree to this policy.

1. Information we collect

We collect the following, depending on how you use Noura:

• Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and (for email sign-ups) a password, which is securely handled by our authentication provider. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from Google.
• Onboarding details. Answers you give during onboarding, such as your motivation, the area you want to improve, your age range, your experience level, your daily goal, and your first subject.
• Learning content you provide. The messages you type or speak, the subjects and notes you create, and any files, links, or pasted text you upload for study.
• Voice data. When you use voice mode, your microphone audio is captured and sent for transcription so the AI can respond. See "Voice and audio" below.
• Usage and progress data. Information such as time spent studying, subjects opened, streaks, and activity, used to power your dashboard.
• Device and technical data. Basic information such as browser type and settings needed to run the app, and data stored locally in your browser (see "Local storage and cookies").

2. How we use your information

• To provide, personalize, and improve the Noura experience.
• To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
• To save your subjects, progress, streaks, and preferences.
• To generate AI responses, transcribe and speak in voice mode, and fact-check what you teach.
• To communicate with you about your account (for example, email confirmation).
• To maintain the safety, security, and reliability of the service.

3. How your content is processed by AI

Noura is powered by third-party AI services. To answer you, transcribe your voice, speak responses, and verify facts, we send the relevant content (such as your messages, voice audio, or attached material) to these providers:

• Anthropic (Claude) — for chat, tutoring, and fact-checking. When fact-checking, the model may perform a web search to verify claims.
• NVIDIA — for speech-to-text (transcribing your voice) and text-to-speech (the student's spoken replies), and for image/diagram generation.

These providers process your content to return a result to you and handle it under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not sell your personal information.

4. Voice and audio

Your microphone is only accessed while voice mode is active and only after your browser grants permission. Audio is captured to transcribe what you say and to generate spoken replies. We do not use your microphone in the background, and we do not retain your raw audio beyond what is needed to produce a response.

5. Third-party services

We rely on the following to operate Noura:

• Supabase — account authentication and database storage of your profile.
• Anthropic and NVIDIA — AI processing as described above.
• Google — optional sign-in.

6. Data storage and security

Account and profile data is stored with Supabase and protected by row-level security so that your record is only accessible to you. Some information (such as your subjects, theme, and progress) is stored locally in your browser so the app works smoothly. We take reasonable measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

7. Local storage and cookies

Noura uses your browser's local storage to remember your subjects, preferences, session, and progress. Clearing your browser storage will remove this local data.

8. Your choices and rights

• Access and update. You can view and edit account details in Settings.
• Delete your account. Use "Delete Account" in Settings to remove your data from this device and sign out. You may also contact us to request deletion of your stored profile.
• Theme, language, and preferences. Adjustable at any time in the app.

9. Children's privacy

Noura is an educational tool. If you are under the age of majority in your region, you should use Noura only with the involvement of a parent, guardian, or teacher. We do not knowingly collect personal information from young children without appropriate consent.

10. Data retention

We keep your account and profile information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. When you delete your account, we remove associated data, except where we must keep certain records to comply with legal obligations.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Your continued use of Noura after changes means you accept the updated policy.
